How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Let's Go Aero Spare Tire 2-Bike Carrier. Now you may notice it's kind of hinted from the name also, the TireBiter is actually mounted on top of your spare tire. It uses the brackets with the teeth at the bottom to actually sink into the grooves of your track so it's not really biting into the tire despite what the name suggests and gives you a pretty stable platform for your bike on top of your spare. So this is gonna allow you to still have access to the back of your Jeep or Bronco and still get two bikes on the road with you. What you're trading to have something on top of your spare tire is gonna give you the ability to access your cargo area without having any issue with your bike 'cause there's still some hitch mounted carriers that offer tilt, but I found that some of 'em are not gonna give you enough tilt or you'll get full access to the back. So that is a nice bonus with the TireBiter.

A couple things that I wanted to point out that you may have noticed, the TireBiter is a two bike carrier, but I only have it loaded up with one, going with the stock 255 70 17 rim tire that's on here, it puts the bike carrier pretty close to the rear of the vehicle. All the bikes that I have here in our studio, even our small frame adult bike just doesn't quite fit into this frame. So that's gonna vary depending on the bicycle you have at home. Your carrier can support up to 35 pounds per bike. So if you have something that's a little bit heavier or reaching above your head with that much weight would cause issues for you, you may want to get some assistance loading and unloading.

This particular case, all you're gonna do is just gonna pull the retaining straps off of the hook and post on the front and rear and you're just gonna lift up, threading the bike out from the hooks. So a pretty easy unload and load. This is a carbon fiber frame bike so it's a lot lighter, but if you have a heavier bike, get some help. Don't be scared, you know So on the top of our Vbars, you're gonna have a hook that cradles your bike. Sadly, the hook and post aren't padded and I would've liked to see some type of rubberized padding in here or a little bit thicker rubberized padding, but you know, it does its job and I hadn't noticed any damage.

But you do have padding to protect the frame that's gonna press against the inside. Your adjustments are gonna be right here with your knob where you can go up and down depending on the diameter of your tire. And we're gonna go down to the powder coated base with the teeth for our TireBiter. What's securing everything, we're gonna be these two zinc ratchet straps that are gonna loop underneath your tire and just basically you're just gonna tighten it down and get enough resistance to keep everything nice and sturdy. You also have these included hook and loop pads to protect your rim against any damage for that metal contact.

But overall I think this is a pretty sturdy design. You'd have a little bit of wobble, but none of that back and forth motion that you're gonna have that can cause issues that's traveling down the road. Just kind of a little bit of vibration, a little bit of shaking and that can be resolved by just using ratchet straps or something to kind of stabilize your bike a little further. Overall, the TireBiter is a solid bike carrier for getting two bikes out on the road depending on their frame size without obstructing your backup camera and maintaining access to the back of your vehicle. Now alternatively, there are other spare-mounted carriers that are gonna mount a lot lower like the Yakima SpareRide or the Hollywood Racks SR1. Those guys are gonna just mount right here, but you're gonna obstruct your backup camera and you may still have access to the back area but you're just making your vehicle overall longer. So if you want something to give you that higher clearance without adding so much to the rear and keeping your backup camera, the TireBiter is a great option. So again, this has been a look at the TireBiter two Bike Spare Tire Carrier from Let's Go Aero. I'm Ed, this is Etrailer and you have a great day.
